Strong Performance from Mayo Minors

Another glorious day weather wise and the Mayo Minor team were playing on home ground in Tooreen against Tyrone in the Tesco Minor All Ireland Championship.

The match began with a show of intent from Tyrone who scored 3 points in the first six minutes of the game.

Mayo settled into the game and didn’t let Tyrone’s good start rattle them. They scored their first point of the game after 8 mintues and that score was followed by 2 goals and 3 points. As Mayo got into their stride they began to dominate in most areas of the field.

Tyrone scored another point before the half time break, and Mayo had added another 2 goals and 2 points to have a total score of 3 goals and 6 points to Tyrone’s 4 points.

The second half began and again Mayo proved the stronger side with a dominant midfield and defense. The forwards too were proving difficult for Tyrone to handle with 2 goals and 4 points added to Mayo’s total during the second half.

While Tyrone didn’t score during the second half their work rate was high all around the pitch with some good moves pieced together during the game.

The Mayo team will no doubt take some learnings but also experience and confidence from their performance into their next match against Cavan next weekend.
