While this year was a little different with regards to the Feile competition, the event still provided great matches and fantastic displays of camogie.
With three teams playing in this year’s competition, there were three matches to be played and then the final.
Match 1 – Castlebar Mitchels V Na Brideoga

The first match threw in at 12pm and Castlebar Mitchels took on Na Brideoga. It was a fast paced match with great play from both sides. Both teams defensive lines played well and kept out a lot of attacks.
While two goals were scored on both sides, it was points that won the match in the end, three of them for Na Brideoga.
Match 2 – Westport V Castlebar Mitchels

Both teams started confidently and scores were a plenty at both ends. Again Castlebar showed great skill and their first touches were impressive. Westport were in fine goal scoring form and managed to get four into the Castlebar net throughout the match. Castlebar at the other end of the pitch, scored two fine goals of their own.
Westport kept going until the final whistle and secured the win through some impressive point scoring.
Match 3 – Westport V Na Brideoga

Na Brideoga, having had a break to watch Match 2, were ready to get back on the pitch and take on the Westport team. Both teams defenses were excellent and kept out all scoring opportunities at both ends.
This match played out a scoreless draw, showing how evenly matched the teams were and it set up for a great final.
Final – Na Brideoga V Westport

Having just played a scoreless draw as they were so evenly matched, it was with great interest that everyone watched the final.
Both teams were slow to get scores on the board but once they did, again it was close all the way through. Westport’s defensive lines were kept busy as Na Brideoga forwards launched successive attacks.
However it was Westport who proved the stronger on the day and showed great composures and shot some great points from distance.
