Mayo U14 Development Games Come to an End

A great performance from our U14 Development Squad today in Ballinasloe against a strong Westmeath team.

Both teams began the match keen and eager to perform well, and that they did. It was a very free flowing match and a variety of skills on display from both sides.

The Mayo players first touch was very good and enabled them to maintain possession of the ball well through the first half.

Westmeath launched a few attacks and while some were successful, the Mayo goalkeeper and her defenders did well keeping out many of them.

Both teams midfield and forward players kept the ball moving up and down the pitch regularly and scoring opportunities were rarely missed on both sides.

It was a great match to watch and while Mayo came away with the win, Westmeath were tough opposition.

Management & coaches would like to thank the 30 girls on the panel for their amazing dedication & engagement over the summer. And, to their parents for driving them all over the county for training and further afield to matches in Tyrone, and Ballinasloe.

To the Na Brídeoga Camogie Club for hosting the game with Donegal and providing fantastic hospitality.

Thanks also to those who volunteered as umpires, and linesmen at all the games. To the county Board, for all their support and guidance, a lot of work went on behind the scenes and everyone appreciates the time it took to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Thanks also to Broderick’s Electrical & Electrolux for their generous support of training t-shirts, it is very much appreciated by the players and is a lovely keepsake following their first year playing for their county.

Everyone is very much looking forward to seeing these young ladies progress through the ranks of Mayo Camogie in the years ahead! 💚❤️
