Our Minors secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Tesco Ireland Minor Championship today.
A strong performance against Cavan saw them to a convincing victory.
The first half saw both teams make a good start with 2 points on the board each with 20 minutes played.
After that Mayo began to pull ahead and they were leading with a scoreline of a goal and 6 points to Cavan’s 3 points at the half-time break.
With their confidence building, Mayo were focused on staying ahead, but Cavan are always determined opposition and while Mayo successfully fought to the end to win the match, Cavan pulled back a goal and 2 points during the second half.
The final scoreline was Mayo 2.12 to Cavan 1.05.
A very impressive Mayo performance and no doubt lots learned in preparation for the next fixture.
With both teams now qualified for the semi-finals, both fixtures should prove exciting.
