It was a long journey to Arklow yesterday for our Junior team and the weather conditions weren’t the best. However the Mayo players didn’t let either of those factors hold them back.
Mayo took a commanding lead during the first 9 minutes of the game holding Wicklow scoreless and building up a 3 goals and 2 point lead. It was a fierce start to the game by the Mayo players.
Wicklow put some points on the board during the first half after the blistering start from Mayo, a testament to their fighting spirit.
The second half was marred with horrendous weather yet Wicklow mounted a significant comeback putting another 7 points on the board.
Mayo were in control of this match from the start and added another 4 points during the second half to ensure a victory.
Mayo now meet Tyrone on Saturday 19th March next for their Round 3 fixture which will be played in Tooreen.
