Mayo Storm into Littlewoods Camogie Leagues Division 4 Final

Mayo had a commanding win over Tyrone today in Tooreen – securing their place in the Division 4 Final and topping the group with three wins.

In a beautifully sunny but very windy Adrian Freeman Memorial Park, Tooreen this Division 4 fixture was keenly anticipated. Both teams took a little time to settle into the game but from the start Mayo looked more comfortable.

While Tyrone were moving the ball well, Mayo scored 4 points, 3 of them from play during the first half. Tyrone did manage to get a point on the board from a free in the dying seconds.

Half-time
Mayo 0.04
Tyrone 0.01

At the start of the second half it was anyone’s game still but 3 minutes in Lisa Scahill scored the first of her two goals and the scoring continued unabated with more goals coming from Kate Scahill and Shauna Peoples.

Again Tyrone managed a point towards the end of the second half and that was to be their last score.

The scoreline doesn’t always accurately reflect the flow of a match. Tyrone were fast and caused many turnovers throughout the game – putting the Mayo backlines under pressure more than a few times during each half.

Tyrone 0.02

However Mayo top the Division 4 group with 3 wins and will face Wicklow in the Division 4 final on April 9th. A fantastic achievement for these players.
